Deirdre Keane – The Last Thing On My Mind

This punchy mid tempo offering with a seductive melody, cranks up the gears especially on the chorus. The lyrics describe the tale of the main protagonist endeavouring to hold it together in the wake of a broken relationship, but who has to confess every night that he’s ‘the last thing on my mind.” Keane’s flawless performance sounds both vulnerable and strong as she conveys the array of emotions recounted in the lyrics.

Written and composed by Al Anderson and Craig Wiseman, the song was first recorded by American country artist Patty Loveless. This timeless classic will be Deirdre’s forth studio single and follows on from her successful previous single “ I just want to Thank you Lord’ which hit the airwaves last December.

The rising county star who lives with her husband and two children in the Shannonside town of Banagher and  has been making big waves in the Irish  country scene and is one of the most requested local country artists on provincial radio stations.

Keane teamed up with well known music producer Peter Maher from Middlewalk Studio in Cloughjoran Tipperary to record this single is delighted with the final outcome. “ This is one of my favourite Patty Loveless songs and I’m delighted with the finished recording.  You’re always second-guessing yourself when you go into studio to record a new song, but I think on this occasion I felt very comfortable with the song choice.”

“This is my 4th single; so the studio is becoming a familiar environment to me now. I think that experience is definitely giving me the confidence to express myself even more during the studio sessions.  I’m really looking forward to hearing the response from all the county music fans across the midlands.
