Country Music Star LISA STANLEY Celebrates 20th Anniversary of SHINE with Release of Reimagined 2020 Edition

TIME ONLY ADDS TO LISA’S ‘SHINE’

August 24th. If ever there was a year that needed a little extra sparkle thrown its way, then surely 2020 is in the running. Well thankfully, country music star LISA STANLEY has the very thing to do just that, as she proves that time only adds to her shine.
The Sligo born singer is celebrating the 20th anniversary of a song that holds a unique place in her heart by releasing a special reimagined edition of the track to mark the occasion. The song in question is SHINE, and back in the year 2000 Lisa performed it as one of the eight finalists – chosen from over one thousand entries – in the National Song Contest, the winner of which would go on to represent Ireland in Eurovision. But not only that, penned by Lisa herself, Shine provided demonstrable evidence that her exceptional vocal talent came accompanied by a high degree of songwriting ability.
Sadly, and we’re the worse off for its absence, the National Song Contest itself is but a memory. Shine, however, lives on. And for its 20th anniversary, Lisa decided to give the song a fresh burst of life, not only by taking it back into the studio, but by also doing something that never happened the first time around…releasing it as a single!
Speaking about that decision, Lisa reflected both on how times have changed in the music business since 2000, and how she feels that Shine possesses a message that might perhaps resonate – and be needed – now more than ever.
“There are some areas of the music business today that are unrecognisable from twenty years ago, things have changed so much. Nowadays, artists can release singles and albums independently, and there are new releases happening every week, nearly every day! And if something like the National Song Contest was happening now, it would never cross an artist’s mind to not actually release their song as a single. Years ago, though, it was a much different landscape and releasing a song was always a big deal. And for a few different reasons, it just didn’t happen with ‘Shine’ at that time. And because the song is so special to me, because I wrote it myself and because it was in the final of the National Song Contest at the time, I’ve always felt like there was a little bit of unfinished business with it. So I’m delighted to finally be able to share it with the world now.”
Lisa continued, “To me, ‘Shine’ is such an uplifting and melodic song, with a soaring chorus and what I think is an inspiring and hopeful lyric. So I think it’s a very appropriate song for the difficult and unprecedented time the world is experiencing at the moment. And the reaction to the song has been very positive so far. Because I wrote ‘Shine’ myself, it’s even more important to me that it strikes a chord with the public.”
Lisa, who is herself the daughter of another famous Irish country singer Maisie McDaniel, with well-known entertainer Fintan Stanley as her father, has become one of the most instantly recognisable faces on the Irish and UK country scene over the last few years. This is thanks to an extensive touring schedule combined with her role as host of The Lisa Stanley Show on Spotlight TV Sky 376/Freesat 516 every Friday at midnight and Wednesday at 1pm.

Now, having found time to return to her biggest passion of songwriting during the lockdown period, Lisa, who already has four studio albums to her credit, is also planning an EP of more original material, with a possible release date of early 2021 in her diary. So watch this space, as they say!
